“We all live under the protection of nature.”
The Dahan River Riverfront, which was once messy in the past, has been transformed into a artificial wetland for sewage purification and ecological habitat restoration now. In addition to processing sewage from the city, purifying the water quality of the Dahan River and improving the ecological environment, this wetland can also supplement the river's water during the dry season and maintain the river's ecology . It is also a place for people to enjoy the scenery and relaxing. There are many aquatic plants and artificial lotus ponds in this wetland, which indirectly echo the water purification function of natural plants in the wetland.
Therefore, I chose a place next to the lotus pond as the base of the work, and combined the shape of the lotus leaf with the vascular characteristics of aquatic plants to create a sculpture in the wetland, and named it "Living with lotus".
It is a work that combines with the modern industrial technology and natural ecological wisdom and also a work where industrial civilization meets nature.
I used the technology of laser cutting to make a lotus leaf-shaped chair with plant cells on the iron plate, and collected natural materials such as Bamboo, Chinese silver grass, Paper mulberry bark, Anredera cordifolia, Ramie rope to weave another piece of sculpture with the lotus leaf's shape. The work is composed of these two lotus leaf-shaped sculptures and provides the shade and sitting functions in this artificial wetland environment that has the water purification, scenery viewing and rest area. It also responds the symbiosis with the urban leisure tourism industry and nature.
