主題說明：
隨著文明科技的進步，我們對自然的瞭解愈多，征服環境的能力相對提高，連帶著對自然生態的破壞力也擴大了。人類文明在不斷發展的同時也一直不停地反思，試圖取得人類文明與自然生態之間的平衡。2014年台電北部火力發電廠舊址以「國立海洋科技博物館」之姿重獲新生，背負起認識及瞭解海洋環境的教育使命，為過去的電廠注入新的靈魂。
「蜃景」作品計畫是由「眼界」和「陸地幻景」兩件作品所組成，利用台電協和發電廠的除役機具結合漂流木與海洋廢棄物等材料，相互構成陸地上的虛幻珊瑚礁體，回應珊瑚礁逐漸消失、我們的自然海岸比率逐年減少的警訊。並且在這概念底下擘畫出不一樣的地景藝術創作，讓民眾就像在游走在愛麗絲夢遊仙境般，透過「眼界」作品的萬花筒看到海底的幻象，再經由珊瑚狀的雕塑導引至「陸地幻景」作品，彷彿置身在真實的幻象場域之中，展開視覺之外的體驗。
藉由此自然與器械魔幻般結合的創作來呈現在地的歷史脈絡、勞動人文、海洋生態與環境永續發展的美學，讓觀者在都市和海洋的幻景中建立起新關係，並更加地認識我們的海洋環境。

Description:
The project “Mirage” consists of two works, “Fish Ken” and “Land Illusion”, both made from marine found materials and decommissioned equipment from the Hsieh-Ho Power Plant. The works create the illusion of coral reefs on the dry land, giving viewers an “Alice in Wonderland”-type experience where they travel through a kaleidoscope of land art allowing them to view the oceans from the perspective of the creatures living beneath the water. The coral sculptures then lead the audience into “Land Illusion”, as the artworks unfold to provide the viewers the opportunity to consider the marine environment from an entirely new perspective.
Placed firmly in the historical context of the local area, these works challenge participants to consider afresh the relationship between human industry, marine ecology, and how society and the oceans can co-exist sustainably in the future.

テーマの説明：
近代文明の発展に伴って、自然の生態系が破壊されています。人間は文明と自然、この両者のバランスを長らく思案してきました。その為2014に台湾電力公司北部火力発電廠跡地に「国立海洋科技博物館」は建てられました。
「蜃気楼」という企画は「眼界」と「大地の幻」二つの作品から構成されています。この企画は「台湾電力公司協和発電廠」から役目を終えた機具や流木、海からの廃棄物などで、陸地のサンゴ礁のような形を作り、夢のような景色を作り出しています。「眼界」という作品の万華鏡で海の底の幻を見せ、
「大地の幻」という作品のサンゴの形の雕刻で、本当に幻の中にいるような感覚を彷彿とさせてくれます。
「蜃気楼」という企画は郷土の歴史や労働の軌跡、海洋の生態と環境の永続的な発展を表しています。人々は都市と海との幻にいながら芸術も体験する事ができ、人間と環境の関係について考えさせられます。

「Ken」有眼界、視野、景象、見地與知識範圍之意。從觀景窗看進去的是什麼？每個人有不同見解，但這並非是一個開放的結局，而是人類與環境的警示。
人看魚，是美麗、美味；魚看人，是…？子非魚，但都知道台灣的海洋生態正持續遭受耗竭。藉由再利用的電廠舊機具，及假想魚視野的萬花筒裝置，是不是可以成為反視環境與歷史的一面鏡子呢？作品就像是一顆被浪潮推起在海底沈寂許久的礁石，通過萬花筒的觀點，提供觀者一個幻想與對於環境反思的內在對話空間。

Description:
"Ken" is an Old English word, still used in parts of Scotland, which refers to the concept of understanding an issue from multiple directions. To ken is not merely to know about or understand something: rather it is a deep-seated, almost subconscious, insight into all aspects of an idea. It accepts that understanding changes with viewpoint, and is subjective to each person according to how a concept moves them as individuals.
As one moves through the artworks, passing within a silent artificial reef lifted from sea to land, the fantasy viewpoint provided by the kaleidoscopes open up a space for viewers to rethink their relationship with the ocean, and develop a sense of ken about how our activities today and in the past have impacted upon marine life.

人間は魚を見て美しい、美味だなどと感じますが、魚は人間を見て何を思うのでしょうか？作品の外見はサンゴ礁の形からデザインしています。発電所で役目を終えた機具をリサイクルし万華鏡の装置を作りました。この装置は魚の目から見える世界を仮想しています。見る人に幻の空間を与え、自分の心と対話し環境問題について考えさせられます。

這是一個以海市蜃樓詮釋海洋中熱帶雨林的危機與對美好世界的想像。作品以海底的珊瑚礁作為作品的初始概念並造型，以其共生的特性回應著我們海洋環境永續的議題，創造出陸地上珊瑚礁群的真實幻景。
作品藉由台電電廠的除役機具、漂流木與海洋廢棄物，置入聲響與綠能燈光裝置，使觀者能夠置身其中並與其互動，就像是一個陸地上出現一座海洋蜃景的大型遊樂場，在綠能科技與自然素材的結合下，日夜有著各自的風貌。訴說著在科技文明進步的時代底下自然永續與能源供需之間平衡的課題。

Description: While many viewers understand the impact on biodiversity caused by continued damage to the rainforests, the coral reefs - hidden as they are beneath the surf - are often overlooked. This artwork reveals the threat to the coral reef environment into a starkly beautiful physical form. In Land Illusion the artists have taken inspiration from coral reefs to question the relationship between human society and these vulnerable - yet essential - ocean environments.
Through the use of green-energy devices and percussion instruments, assembled within the steel bones of old power plant equipment, driftwood and found marine litter, this work gives people the opportunity to walk within and interact with the artwork.
