此件作品是參與「國立清華大學校園公共藝術節-世界家園」的作品。我將作品名為「藝術生境_水孕」，以生態學的名詞進入藝術作品的命名裡頭，試著跳脫開人類社會性的思維，而以某種自然界物種的角度來看待我們現在所賴以維生的土地。我選擇校園內一處平靜的湖面作為創作的場域，在此湖上以校園內的自然材料進行一個漂浮在湖面上的棲地作品。以此回應此校園公共藝術節的「世界家園」主題之外，也藉由作品於湖面上實體與鏡像相互映射出的巨大種子形象符號，牽引出水之孕生的生命循環概念。
當我在校園內創作的期間，剛好正值台灣社會上「反核四運動」如火如荼展開的時候。各式各樣反核的行動越演越烈。或許是因為學校以前有一個科系名為「核子工程學系」，(1997年後更名為「工程與系統科學系」)，在當時是台灣研究核能科技的教育機構。在反核的時下氛圍期間，在校園內我經常會聽到許多學生告訴我關於這個湖的傳聞故事。據說有許多進行研究與實驗後的核汙染的器具被丟棄進這個湖中，也成為現在校園學子們不喜歡這個湖的原因。無論事件真實與否，這學子們口耳相傳的故事已經使這個湖蒙上了一層詭譎的色彩。卻也因為如此，在這反核的聲浪期間的駐村創作也造就了此棲地作品與土地更深一層的思考契機，共同成就出一個不屬於人的棲地，看的見卻到達不了棲地…
在這充滿故事的環境中進行勞動創作，進入了那想像的時空縫隙裡頭。在這充滿故事的自然流體上，漂浮的土地是種現代對於時下自然棲地的想像，作品內部隨著水氣緩慢開合如心臟的松果與這座看得見卻到不了的自然棲地開啟了現下關於「世界家園」的討論。在浪漫與現實的不斷拉扯與衝撞中，水之孕出的是新生與想像的無盡領地，亦或是那生活中無以回復的種種殘酷現實。

This is a project of public art festival at National Tsing Hua University campus. The art works, " Ecological niche of art_Gravida", with the ecology of the term, tried to take the creators as a natural species, then make a habitat work on the campus lake, and the existing land creation in this particular environment is a niche progress procession. As a response to this campus public art festival " Global homes ", the work on the lake mirrored each entity and mapping out the image of the great symbols of seeds, draws the concept of water’s breeding and the life cycle. In an environment where the body of labor and the ecological environment in the process, we entered the imagination of space inside the gap. In this fluid story, the land is a kind of floating habitat, a visible but cannot get on the land, the works and the pine cones inner opened the “Global homes" discussion. In the pulling and collision constantly between romance and reality, water gravida the endless newborn land of imagination or restore all the brutal facts of no returning life.
When I created work here, I usually hear many students tell me stories about this lake. Here used to have a department called “the Department of Nuclear Engineering", as the name the study of Department of nuclear energy. It is also the only research nuclear technology educational institutions in Taiwan. However, the biggest problem is how to recycle the stuff of nuclear pollution. I heard they were thrown into the lake directly. That’s why students don’t like this lake now.
My original plan was to create a habitat on the lake, and this lake carrying a lot of nuclear stories. Besides, at the same time, there was coincided with “anti-nuclear Fourth Movement". Many factors have created this work. It was covered with a layer of strange color in it, but also the best time to create it.
It is a habitat does not belong to man, we could see it, but cannot reach there…
